Lee, Marina & Max September 30, 2008

Lee’s family and I were able to make very good use of the gorgeous day last Sunday.  They had never been out to “my neck of the woods” and I think they really liked the spot we chose.  Beautiful views of the river, lots of green grass, and the great rocky beach.  Max is so full of life, can’t you see it on his shining face?

Okay everyone, I know I have said this before, but this Sunday might really be one of our last days of sun in the Seattle area.  I am filling up Sunday appointments for a Snoqualmie shoot.  The area includes grassy park with river running behind it, rocky beach great for walking along, and throwing rocks into river (always a hit with little guys) as well as the train depot.

I’ve still got a few spots (hour sessions) open,

please give me a call if you might want to set one up!

Baby Grace September 18, 2008

Little baby Grace melted my heart.  I had the honor of sharing in this very special time, photographing Sue and Brian’s little angel.  It was wonderful to get to spend so much time with my old friend.  Not to mention so much time with Grace.  I had never really been with a newborn for more than a few hours, and what a wake-up call to reality!  Eat, sleep, poop, do it all over again and again.  Becuase I spent more than a day with them, I was able to be there any time Grace woke up, or was particularly allert.  The marathon-shoot went great, and I hope Brian and Sue cherish their photos.  Thanks you two for allowing me the honor of capturing these memoris for you!

Steph, Chad, Isaac & Eli September 17, 2008

I have been working with this family for over 2 years now.  We completed our package of three sessions last weekend at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island.  My how those boys have grown!!  It has been such a joy for me to watch the boys go from infants, to toddlers.  From one word here and there, to complete sentences.  I am utterly impressed by how gorgeous they are, and how well this family works together.  Great to see you all again, and I look forward to many more years of memory making!

I am off to California tomorrow afternoon to meet and photograph a very special little girl.  Her name is Grace, and she is only a few weeks old.  My dear friend from high school has just become a new mommy, and is bringing me in to town to photograph her little angel.  I am so excited to meet this little one.  We will spend an entire day together, and lord only knows how many pictures I’ll take!

I’ll be unable to respond to most voicemails until I return on Tuesday, Sept. 16th.  I’ll most likely only be able to check my e-mail once, so please be patient, I’ll get back to you ASAP.

I’ve also just sent of my two submissions to Seattle Bride Magazine for their fall issue.  Lets all cross our fingers and send me your good juju.  My submissions are great this year, and they both have very special stories to go along with them.  I’ll of course keep everyone up to date if I hear anything.

Have a great weekend everyone!  Apparently this is going to be an absolutely gorgeous Seattle weekend, I’m a little sad I’ll miss it.  It will be over 100 degrees where I’m going!

My very best friend/neighbor/college roomate/dog sitter/sole bookclub buddy/happy hour goin/facial gettin/sister from another mister is finally turning……

                                                                                                       29!

Welcome to the club my dear!  It isn’t all that bad.  But next year it might be!

Ellie is an incredible person.  She is amazingly, and I do mean incredibly organized.  She is a very devoted teacher, and just began her first year teaching in our new neighborhood.  She is a very thoughtful friend, we share so many stupid jokes, and tons of laughs together.  I am very blessed to have had her in my life for ten years now.  Who knew when I met that girl on UCSB’s campus with the gap wardrobe and the cute little bowl haircut that she would become my diligant confidant, my closest friend.  Heres to Ellie: may this year be one full of love, continued laughter, good times, happy hours, and FUN!  Love you Ellie!

The lovely Hannah September 9, 2008

Miss Hannah is an 09′ grad, and I spent some time with her on her family’s property in the Snoqualmie valley.  I’m pretty sure the pictures speak for themselves: Hannah is lovely, sweet, funny, and extremely photogenic.  I even had a hard time choosing which shots to blog, there were so many!  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Hannah and her family, and I wish her all the best in her senior year and beyond!

A wonderful visit with family September 9, 2008

I just had a wonderful visit with my mom and grandma from California.  Our motto for the trip, as is my motto quite often, was:

Eat, Drink, and be Merry!

We started our visit in the city as grandma had never been to this area in all her long 81 years!  We had breakfast in the U-district at a great little cafe, and then hit up the space needle, and of course had to go to Pike Place Market.  It was really packed, and we all had to hold hands just to make sure we didn’t get separated.  Grandma couldn’t believe her eyes when the guys threw the fish over the counter.  She kept trying to get a picture, but they were just too quick for her.

We also went to the Salish for a wonderfully tasty breakfast, and a quick stroll down main street in Snoqualmie.  We of course had to have dinner at Matts’, and finally did a little shopping at Molbaks (could have spent an entire day there alone) and bell-square.  We had a great time talking, laughing, shopping, and most importantly:  eating, drinking, and being merry.  Now it is back to work for Mrs. Hopkins.  I’ve got some seniors anxiously awaiting their proofs!

Anna’s Sweet Sixteen! September 5, 2008

Anna’s mom Kathleen bought a gift certificate at an auction sponsored by Microsoft to benifit breast cancer awareness.  I remember being in college and hearing a very scary statistic: one in eight women will get breast cancer.  I lived in an apartment complex with two adjoining apartments housing eight females.  Statistically, one of us will get breast cancer.  WOW.  Anything we can do as individuals to support breast cancer awareness, and finding a cure is of paramount importance.  Many thanks to the women of Microsoft who put all the effort forth to make the auction happen, and a special thanks to Kathleen and Anna for purchasing the gift certificate.  And of course:

Happy Sweet Sixteen Anna!!

Seattle Bride Magazine celebrates 10 years! September 5, 2008

…and I was there to celebrate with them!  It was a wonderful event held at the Artic Club Hotel ballroom.  It is the first Seattle Bride Magazine event I have attended, and it was a really nice reception.  I had to giggle to myself when I received the invitation, and it had “my” colors: chocolate brown and Tiffany blue.  There were great tall tables draped in fabric, with really beautiful square center pieces with brown and ivory orchids.  An environmentally concscious DJ called Bamboo Beats (I think) supplied some really great background music.  I had the great pleasure of meeting the publisher/owner, the editor, and three of the founding membors of the artistic board.  I also met the new owners of a place in La Conner called The Quarry, sounds absolutely amazing!  It was a fun way for me to meet others in the wedding industry.  Everyone from catering directors of big (and little) hotels to fellow photographers.  The Artic Club Hotel is newly remodeled and absolutely fabulous.  I had a night-cap at the bar downstairs, and the whole place has a really great feel to it.  A fun night I am really glad I got to be a part of.  Congrats Seattle Bride Mag, and cheers to ten more wonderful years!!
